Hidden Valley Civic Club
First Summer with Outdoor Movie Nights were a Success!
This year the Children’s Committee purchased an 18 ft Outdoor Movie screen and system, and provided FREE movie nights at the ballfields once a month between June and September. The movie nights were a hit, providing a family-friendly activity in the Valley for no cost.
We would like give a huge THANK YOU to the people that worked so hard to help make the movie nights so enjoyable. This includes Jim Lightner for making sure the grass was cut and sprayed for bugs, Tom Beversdorf and the girls in the Athletic Club who provided very affordable food and drinks, and the Children’s Committee for setting up and taking down the screen each time.
We are planning to have movie nights again in 2016, so stay tuned for specific dates when our 2016 Calendar is published at the beginning of the year.
By the time this Echoes is published, we will have had our 9th annual Haunted Hayride. With all the hard work that is going into this event, it is sure to be a success. Look for more information about the hayride in the November Echoes.
The kids Halloween Walk is Sunday, October 25th from 2-4pm for kids 9 and under. It begins at the beach where you will purchase your wristband for $4 and will take place along Longview between the beach and Buckeye Court. Have your children dress up in their Halloween costumes for some afternoon fun. If you would like to help pass out candy along the route, please contact us at email@example.com.
Other Events Coming in 2015:
Sunday, December 6th – Pizza with Santa (Willies)
As always, if you would like to volunteer to help with any of our events, or if you have any ideas or questions, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.

What the Civic Committee is all about
I’m often asked what it is that the Civic Committee does. Although we are often referred to as a “club”, we are actually a committee that the POA founders wrote into the bylaws of HVL. According to the bylaws, all HVL property owners are automatically a member of the Civic Committee. Our main purpose is to plan activities for Hidden Valley and to raise money to put back into our community.
Here is a list of events that we have sponsored throughout the year in the past…
Jan: Martin Luther King Jr. Food drive
Feb: Mardi gras Celebration
March: Spring fling
April: Keep America Beautiful
July: July 4th festivities at the HVL Beach
Sept: Family Fall Fest and Chili Cook-off
Oct: Haunted Woods and Halloween walk
Monthly: Card nights in the fall and winter
We also have done Adult and Family Swim Parties as well as Family Camp Outs. We have also occasionally planned trips outside of HVL to places like Keeneland for horse racing. We also sponsor the HVL Garage sale twice a year.
With the money that we have raised from these events, we have purchased the following:
- Deliberators for the HVL Deputy vehicles
- Both shelters at the beach
- Swing set for the pool
- Mulched the park at Matterhorn’s Paradise lake
- Toilets for the beach bathrooms
- Money to the HVL Swim Team for new equipment
- Major contributor to the HVL Scholarship fund
- Contributor to the HVL Fitness Center
- New benches throughout the valley
- New grills at beach
We are always looking for more volunteers to help out. Please come to the next meeting on September 29th or call Elizabeth Isom at 513-289-5720 to get more information.
