HVL FISH & GAME CLUB LOOKS FORWARD TO 2012

     2012 promises to be another busy year for the Fish & Game Club of HVL. The January 3rd. meeting will focus on tournament schedules for the 2012 season. February is officer nominations followed by elections in March, with new officers taking their positions in April. In May the Fish & Game Club plans to again sponsor the Jr. BASS tournament where Jr. BASS Club members from the Tri-State region fish from HVL Fish & Game boats operated by club members. The very popular Kids Fishing Derby in July is also on our agenda. In addition to tournaments throughout the season, the F&G Club will continue to hold the annual September Golf Outing at Sugar Ridge and the Wild Game Dinner in October. The year will be capped off with the always fun-filled Christmas Party in December.
    The Fish & Game Club will continue to work closely with the HVL Lakes Committee to assist in keeping our main lake and the many smaller lakes HVL’s greatest assets.
    New members are welcomed and can join by attending any meeting throughout the year.

HVL FISH & GAME
TOURNAMENT RULES

HVL Lake is off limits two (2) hours prior to any tournament.
Bass that fail to meet the proper length requirement of 14” (with mouth closed) at the weigh-in will be disqualified. One pound will be deducted for each disqualified fish.
All protests must be given to the tournament director. A panel of three (3) members appointed by the tournament director will act upon protests. Their decision will be final.
No dead fish will be weighed in; again the decision of the panel is final.
All boats must have built-in aerated live wells or equivalent, no stingers or wire baskets. In the event that a boat’s live well fails, they can have another boat keep the fish in their live well.
All boats must have a valid HVL sticker for the current year, and one person in the boat must be a member of the Fish and Game Club.
All anglers must abide by all HVL rules for boating and fishing.
The tournament winner will be the contestant with the heaviest poundage of fish, if a tie occurs; the first and second place money is split evenly. This will also hold true for big fish money if two or more tie. In the event that less than 3 boats bring in keepers, first and second place winners will split third place money, if only one boat brings in keepers, they will receive all moneys except the percentage held for the club.
$20.00 entry fee per person,(two day tournaments are $30.00) $5 of which goes for BIG BASS, winnings to be paid out as follows: First Place, 50%: Second Place, 33%: Third Place, 17%: Fourth Place will be $30.00 and the club holds $40. There will be a $5 BIG FISH each day on a two day tournament
In the event that no fish are caught in a tournament, the prize money will be donated to the Fish and Game Club.
No more than two (2) anglers allowed per boat. A third person may fish if 15 or younger. All anglers pay entry fee.
No trolling allowed.
No live or natural bait except pork baits can be used.
All live wells are checked prior to the tournament.
Official starting and finishing times for each tournament will posted in the ECHOES. All boats must be registered and in the water 15 minutes before the starting time. Boats arriving late will not be allowed to participate in that day’s event.
All fish are returned to the lake. A personal trophy may be kept.
Each boat is a team; fishing is permitted from boat only.
HVL boat owners can bring a guest.
Limit of four (4) fish per boat. No more than four (4) keeper fish in the live well at one time or violators will be disqualified. Weigh-in will be held within 15 minutes of end of tournament.
No alcohol permitted during tournament hours. Violators will be disqualified.
During the first 30 minutes of each tournament all participants will keep their boats at idle speed only.
Angler of the year points are awarded as follows: First place team gets 5 points: Second place team gets 4 points: Third place team gets 3 points: Fourth place team gets 2 points: Fifth place team gets 1 point. The angler who catches the big bass during each tournament gets an additional point. There is only one point given out during a two day tournament to the biggest bass of the tournament. Angler of the year will be the angler with the most points after the last qualifying tournament.
