Main Entrance Redesign Project

Your HVL Streets and Parks Committee is has begun the task of planning a renovation of the main entrance at State Line Road. We also plan to eventually extend the updated look we achieve there to our other entrances, albeit in a smaller way.

Ideally, they should all have similar signage, lighting, traffic/informational signs and landscaping. There are several components to the project: HVL sign/water wheel, roadway/curbs, traffic and other informational signs, planned information center/visitor parking, guard house area, landscaping/lighting on island, landscaping on outer borders.

Here is the philosophy behind the project, as well as a list of specific goals we’d like to achieve:

The HVL main entrance should:

  1. Establish an accurate identity; achieve the feel and tone of the community, not just name it
  2. Reflect a spirit of community pride and stability
  3. Provide a welcoming gateway to residents and visitors
  4. Emphasize the natural beauty of the area - lakes, woodlands, wildlife
  5. Distinguish HVL from other neighborhoods in the area
  6. Set expectations for potential homebuyers as to what they’ll encounter once in neighborhood - of diversity of homes, individualism of residents
  7. Enhance HVL property values in the competitive real estate market

Specific goals to achieve:

  1. Project a contemporary, up-to-date image (in keeping with our new community center and logo)
  2. Incorporate our new logo in signage
  3. Screen out the adjoining property to the south
  4. Screen out the view of the maintenance area on the north side
  5. Provide parking, maps and information for visitors
  6. Provide an information center for residents – bulletin board and sign area
  7. Better organize traffic/informational signage
  8. Make the entrance as attractive, welcoming and user-friendly as possible
  9. Make the entrance area as easy to maintain as possible
