Main Entrance Redesign Project
Your HVL Streets and Parks Committee is has begun the task of planning a renovation of the main entrance at State Line Road. We also plan to eventually extend the updated look we achieve there to our other entrances, albeit in a smaller way.
Ideally, they should all have similar signage, lighting, traffic/informational signs and landscaping.
There are several components to the project: HVL sign/water wheel, roadway/curbs, traffic and other informational signs, planned information center/visitor parking, guard house area, landscaping/lighting on island, landscaping on outer borders.
Here is the philosophy behind the project, as well as a list of specific goals we’d like to achieve:
The HVL main entrance should:
- Establish an accurate identity; achieve the feel and tone of the community, not just name it
- Reflect a spirit of community pride and stability
- Provide a welcoming gateway to residents and visitors
- Emphasize the natural beauty of the area - lakes, woodlands, wildlife
- Distinguish HVL from other neighborhoods in the area
- Set expectations for potential homebuyers as to what they’ll encounter once in neighborhood - of diversity of homes, individualism of residents
- Enhance HVL property values in the competitive real estate market
Specific goals to achieve:
- Project a contemporary, up-to-date image (in keeping with our new community center and logo)
- Incorporate our new logo in signage
- Screen out the adjoining property to the south
- Screen out the view of the maintenance area on the north side
- Provide parking, maps and information for visitors
- Provide an information center for residents – bulletin board and sign area
- Better organize traffic/informational signage
- Make the entrance as attractive, welcoming and user-friendly as possible
- Make the entrance area as easy to maintain as possible
